Read the list of Queer Tropes and see if you can name one example of 10 of the tropes. Give the name of the show, the name of the character, and why they fit the trope.
1.Ambiguously Bi: A character may seem bi, but no one knows for sure.
TV SHOW - A Typical, Casey
Casey is very unsure if she even is bi or gay.
2.Ambiguously Gay: A character may seem gay/lesbian, but no one knows for sure.
TV SHOW- Shameless, Ian
Ian dates and in the beginning seasons is unsure of being gay.
3.Gayngster: A gay person involved with organized crime.
TV SHOW- 13 Reasons Why, Tony
Tony is this badass macho man who always gets in trouble with the law.
4.But Not Too Gay: Gay affection/love not being shown as if not to offend anyone.
TV SHOW- Oscar, The Office
Oscar doesn't feel right to open up to coworkers to reveal that he is gay.
5.Girls Behind Bars: A women's prison setting played for fanservice, typically with strong lesbian overtones.
TV SHOW- Orange is the new, Black Piper and Alex
While being in jail Piper plays the role of a strong lesbian protagonist.
6.Has Two Mommies: Two men or two women raise a child together.
TV SHOW- Modern Family, Mitchell, Cameron
Mitchell and Cameron adopt a young baby girl to fulfill their family picture.
7.Incompatible Orientation: Two characters would make a good couple if it wasn't for their different sexuality.
TVSHOW- Glee, Rachel, and Kurt
Kurt is the only one to fully understand Rachel and her divaness.
8.Gaydar: The ability to detect gay people who haven't outed themselves to you.
TV SHOW- Cheers, Diane
In one episode Diane was clearly very able to make out who in the bar was gay while all the guys had no idea it was actually one of their regulars.
9.The Beard: When a gay person dates the opposite sex to appear straight.
TV SHOW- The Carrie Diaries, Walt and Maggie
With this taking place in the '80s, Walt is trying to understand what being gay means and if he actually is or if it's just a phase.
10. Pair the Suitors: May occur if at least one member of a Love Triangle is gay or bisexual.
Greys Anatomy, Callie and Arizona and Mark
In the couple beginning seasons, there is a developed love triangle between these three characters do to confusion but also the birthing of a baby girl between mark and Callie while having a relationship with callie and Arizona.
